TOUR OVERVIEW:
The Prefecture of Xanthi includes the area from the mountains of Rodopi, with the virgin woods and the lush flora and fauna, surrounded by the Nestos river and other smaller rivers that flow into the Aegean Sea, the Tracian Sea and the Vistonida lake on the south of the region. In the middle of this area, the mountains 'soften' and they form the lush plain of Xanthi with not only a varied agricultural and the famous tobacco, but with the cotton plantations the grain and the vegetables as well.
Depart the port by motor coach and drive to the village of Toxotes Galini from where we see the picturesque Gorge of river Nestos, and where will have a short photo stop.
From there we continue driving to Xanthi. The city with its old churches, its squares, its inns and its tobacco warehouses indicate the civilisation of the previous century. We visit the old Town, the Folkore Museum, the City Hall, the Metropolis church as well as the huge buildings of Tobacco Factories. You will have the opportunity to see the life during the later Ottoman Occupation through these traditional settlements.
Soon after the conclusion of the tour a local light snack will be offered.
Afterwards, meet back up with your motor coach at the specified place and drive back to Kavala.
